Platanor

Canker-stain resistant Platanus “Vallis Clausa”®

The Platanus platanor “Vallis Clausa” ® is the first Platanus resistant to canker-stain, a disease caused by the fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata f.sp. platani, the main cause of the death for this plant.

Created and patented in France by a partnership between I.N.R.A. (French National Research Center) and the Rouy Imbert nursery, it is sold in Italy exclusively by Piante Mati 1909.

The Platanor is hardy and vigorous. Characterized by rapid growth, it is well suited for city avenues as a solitary exemplar in both public and private city parks. It does well even in seaside areas and in Italy’s different climates and latitudes. It has also shown good resistance to anthracnose and a certain tolerance of oidium and Tingidae.

Platanor “Vallis Clausa” has been successfully transplanted even in places where Platanus, previously affected by the fungus Ceratocystis fimbriata f.sp. platani, had been extirpated, without ever manifesting canker-stain symptoms.

Beware of fakes. There is only one Platanus platanor “Vallis Clausa” ® and we have the exclusive for Italy at Piante Mati 1909.

Protected by an international patent, each individual plant of this particular variety is sold with a certificate of authenticity, a microchip inserted into the trunk, and the purchaser’s obligation to state the exact location where it will be transplanted.
